Local Well-posedness of the Multi-layer Shallow Water Model with Free Surface∗

چکیده
In this paper, we address the question of the hyperbolicity and the local wellposedness of the multi-layer shallow water model, with free surface, in two dimensions. We first provide a general criterion that proves the symmetrizability of this model, which implies hyperbolicity and local well-posedness in Hs(R2), with s > 2. Then, we analyze rigorously the eigenstructure associated to this model and prove a more general criterion of hyperbolicity and local well-posedness, under a particular asymptotic regime and a weak stratification assumptions of the densities and the velocities. Finally, we consider a new conservative multi-layer shallow water model, we prove the symmetrizability, the hyperbolicity and the local well-posedness and rely it to the basic multi-layer shallow water model.

متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Free Surface in the Case of Plane Turbulent Wall Jets in Shallow Tailwater
Wall-jet flow is an important flow field in hydraulic engineering, and its applications include flow from the bottom outlet of dams and sluice gates. In this paper, the plane turbulent wall jet in shallow tailwater is simulated by solving the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations using the standard turbulence closure model. This study aims to explore the ability of a time splitting method ...
متن کاملPerformance Model for Vertical Wells with Multi-stage Horizontal Hydraulic Fractures in Water Flooded Multilayer Reservoirs
For the characteristics of horizontal fractures in shallow low-permeability oil layers after hydraulic fracturing in multilayer reservoirs, horizontal fractures are taken equivalent to an elliptical cylinder with the reservoir thickness using the equivalent permeability model; then, upon the elliptic seepage theory, the seepage field which has led by a vertical well with horizontal fractures is...
متن کاملMathematical derivation of viscous shallow-water equations with zero surface tension
The purpose of this paper is to derive rigorously the so called viscous shallow water equations given for instance page 958-959 in [A. Oron, S.H. Davis, S.G. Bankoff, Rev. Mod. Phys, 69 (1997), 931–980]. Such a system of equations is similar to compressible Navier-Stokes equations for a barotropic fluid with a non-constant viscosity. To do that, we consider a layer of incompressible and Newtoni...
متن کاملWell-posedness for the viscous shallow water equations in critical spaces
We investigate the well-posedness for the 2D viscous shallow water equations in the theory of compressible fluid. Making use of the Fourier frequency localization and Bony paraproduct decomposition, closing to a stable equilibrium h0, we obtain the local well-posedness for general initial data u0 and the global well-posedness for small initial data u0 in certain scaling invariant Besov spaces, ...
